Laparoscopic surgery involves making small incisions in the abdomen through which a tiny camera (laparoscope) and surgical tools are inserted. It allows your surgeon to view and operate on pelvic organs with enhanced visibility and precision.
Hysteroscopic surgery involves inserting a thin camera (hysteroscope) through the cervix into the uterus. This allows for direct access to the uterine cavity without any incisions, making it ideal for treating conditions inside the uterus.
The doctor will guide a lighted tube through the cervix and into the uterus. This tube is called a hysteroscope, or scope. The doctor will fill your uterus with liquid. This makes it easier to see the inside of your uterus with the scope. The doctor may also put tools through the scope to treat a problem.
