What is a D&C Hysteroscopy?

D&C is a minor surgical procedure that gently removes tissue from the uterus. It's commonly used to diagnose or treat heavy bleeding, clear out the uterus after miscarriage, or collect tissue samples.

How it helps

Hysteroscopy D&C is a minimally invasive gynecologic procedure that combines two techniques:

Hysteroscopy: Using a thin camera (called a hysteroscope) to look directly inside the uterus. It can be used for both diagnosis and treatment.

D&C (Dilation and Curettage): Gently opening the cervix and removing a sample of the uterine lining for diagnosis or treatment.

Together, these procedures allow your provider to see exactly what’s happening inside your uterus and safely remove abnormal tissue, polyps, or fibroids—all with greater precision than older, blind methods.

Why?

It’s recommended when there's abnormal uterine bleeding, incomplete miscarriage, or a need for further investigation into uterine conditions like polyps or cancer. It offers both treatment and diagnosis in one procedure. It's quick, minimally invasive, and helps resolve bleeding and discomfort while ensuring accurate diagnosis.
